VIYAC is a state-wide network of volunteer Indigenous young people between 12 and 25 years who provide a voice to government and community on issues of importance to them.

Our Mob, Our Talent, Our Future - Gathering for Aboriginal Youth

Our Mob, Our Future, Our Talent – Gathering for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Young People is being hosted by the Victorian Indigenous Youth Advisory Council (VIYAC) and the Koori Justice Unit, Department Of Justice (KJU).

The Gathering will be an opportunity for young Aboriginal people to;

- Meet other young black fellas.
- Showcase their talents.
- Celebrate their culture and heritage and
- Be provided with access to information about career pathways, educational and employment opportunities.

Congatulations to Clarisse & Lowell!

VIYAC would like to Congratulate Clarisse Slater and Lowell Hunter for being awarded the 2010 Ricci Marks Aboriginal Young Achievers Award.

Clarisse and Lowell are proud members of the VIYAC and are both postive contributors to their Indigenous communities.

The Ricci Marks Aboriginal Young Achievers Award is an initiatve of Aboriginal Affairs Victoria, awarding young Indigneous leaders in Victoria with $5,000 in support of their future aspirations.

Well done to Clarisse and Lowell! Keep up the good work!

National Youth Week

The VIYAC held an Indigneous Young Parents Forum on Tuesday the 13th of April 2010.

The forum was an opportunity for the young parents to voice their ideas, passions and concerns on issues that are important to them.

The young parents who participated provided valuable information that the VIYAC will colate and use to advocate on behalf of Indigenous young parents .
